Soul Aligned Birth Preparation Topics
This isn't a course where you'll sit and watch PowerPoint slides. It's an immersive experience that prepares your body, mind and heart for birth, while giving your partner practical tools to support you every step of the way.
Day 1.
Morning Session - Get your body ready for birth
Get active; your body in pregnancy and birth
Does the way you move before and during affect your labour? Absolutely it can!
In this workshop you will learn about
• Anatomy and physiology of labour and birth
• Learn positions and movements to move through labour and birth
• Learn why you have pain in pregnancy and what compensation patterns are. There’s a difference between normal and common
• How can your partner can support you
• Get a full postural assessment to determine your body alignment
• Introduction to Pain Coping Practices
• Finally you’ll be given homework to balance your body specific to your needs.
Movement is not only good for your body but definitely helps with your mindset.
We’ll look at ways to move during pregnancy to release your achy body
We’ll also get stuck into positions and movement that are great for an active labour. A labour where you work with your body and move the way that it intuitively wants to help baby move down and out.
Afternoon session - Get Your Mind Ready!
Embracing your fears about childbirth and parenting is an important step towards preparing yourself for the challenges and joys of this transformative experience. As is tuning into your inner knowing and sacred birthing team that helps guide you to use your intuition.
Embracing your fears is about being positive and grounded but not avoiding…
• Build on pain coping practices
• Anxiety and fear on how your birth will unfold at the moment is a very real thing. During this session we will check in and unravel exactly where you’re at with some tips to bring in some daily mindfulness.
• What to do when things don’t go according to your ideal birth plan
• Moving through your biggest Birth Fear. You may have a residual fear or worry that keeps nagging at you. Today we will move through a specific fear release process using visualisation and hypnosis techniques. This process will give you your own personalised affirmation to hold in your heart
• With this affirmation you’ll use it to then envision what ideal things will be a part of your birth
Day 2.
Morning session - Birth totem - the Art of Birthing
In the Art of Birth you'll learn the power of how to use birth art as a key piece of your preparation for birth and parenting.
• Refresh Pain Coping Practices
• The Labyrinth of Birth - The labyrinth can be understood as a universal map for any rite of passage or initiatory ordeal, regardless of its specific events and outcomes.
In this class, you explore the concept of how birth is like a heroic journey and learn how to use the symbol of the labyrinth as a map for the internal experience of birth/the childbearing year.
Often in childbirth preparation, the focus is primarily on the external (physiological and medical) events of birth, with not much emphasis on the internal journey.
By physically tracing the labyrinth, parents create a deep-seated memory of how to keep going when encountering the unknown.
• Create a birth totem sculpture with clay that you can add to your altar or hold for strength in birth
• Birth Art – create a drawn art piece around a specific brief chosen for you on the day. It could be to capture how you may see yourself as a parent, or what birth looks like in our culture. We focus on the process over the final product or end result.
